One stroke,
one step at a time.
Sober Kiddo transforms the journey of recovery through art, creativity, and connection—creating spaces where people of all ages can express themselves, discover creativity, build skills, and move toward positive change.
Explore Our ProgramsPartner With UsRecovery is bigger than one label.
For Sober Kiddo, recovery can include substance use, trauma, grief, unhealthy patterns, difficult life experiences, isolation, military experiences, or simply moving forward from a life a person no longer wants to live.
We do not define people by what they have been through. We create opportunities for creativity, expression, connection, skills, community, and possibility.
The Inner Child PhilosophyDifferent communities. Different programs. One creative thread.
Sober Kiddo is not one art class. It is a growing family of programs designed for different people, ages, environments, and stages of healing.
Recovery & Healing
Creative expression for recovery communities and people navigating difficult life experiences.
Youth
Age-appropriate creative spaces where artwork can speak when a Kiddo does not have the words yet.
Seniors
Expression, connection, storytelling, and creative participation for older adults.
Sober Kiddo Buddies
An intergenerational crochet and storytelling concept connecting older creators with younger Kiddos.
Sober Kiddo Vets

Sober Kiddo Grow
A developing gardening and wellness program built around planting, nurturing, patience, and growth.
Sober Kiddo Rooms
A future artist-centered space connecting original artwork with the person and creative world behind it.
Community Artists
Artists can donate creativity by teaching, demonstrating, mentoring, and leading creative moments.
Art Sessions
Expressive and instructive sessions designed around safety, exploration, experimentation, learning, and reflection.
“We are not asking people to forget what happened to them. We are creating space for them to discover what can happen after what happened to them.”
Built from lived experience. Growing through community.
Johnathan Cabil founded Sober Kiddo in 2025 after recognizing how meaningful creativity and art had become in his own recovery journey. The idea grew into a community-centered nonprofit vision that brings creative opportunities to people who may need another way to express, connect, and grow.

Sober Kiddo offers expressive and instructive art sessions designed to create welcoming, no-judgment spaces where people can explore creativity, build skills, and express what may be hard to put into words. No art experience is required.
Expressive Art Sessions
Participants use art to explore emotions, experiences, creativity, and personal reflection through hands-on themes and open-ended making.
Instructive Art Sessions
Participants practice techniques, experiment with materials, and strengthen creative skills through guided instruction.
Next public art session: To be announced.
When a public session is confirmed, we will post the verified date, time, location, who can attend, and how to participate here. Private or facility-based sessions will only be listed as public when participation is open.

Sober Kiddo creates spaces where people can make art, connect with others, explore creativity, and express experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
What impact looks like
Impact can be a participant trying art for the first time, discovering a new skill, sharing a story through a piece of artwork, reconnecting with creativity, or simply having a welcoming place to create without judgment.
Our work is growing across recovery communities and senior settings, while programs for youth, veterans, intergenerational creativity, gardening, and artist-led community spaces continue to develop.
Help us keep learning
After art sessions, participants can share optional feedback about what they enjoyed, their experience with Sober Kiddo staff and instructors, and what they would like to see or try in future classes.
